GP-Wiz40 MAX USB Compatible Input Interface with Rotary Support
[GPWIZ40MAX]

$37.95

I purchased this product to use with the Stepmania software.

I live in Toronto, Canada and I have made a MAME box using another popular Input Control Interface but that company is not in North America and I like to buy Canadian/American so I decided to give Groovy Game Gear's products a try as I had seen them on the http://arcadecontrols.com website.

One thing Groovy Game Gear (GGG) did right (for Canadians anyway) is ship via USPS (the US post office) this allowed me to avoid any brokerage fees that the courier companies charge when shipping things into Canada. The trip of the package was interesting as GGG is in New York state just across the lake I figured it would be here in days but the package was shipped all the way to Arizona.
But it was at my door in about 9 days and that's pretty good. Since I ordered the one item the CDN post office didn't charge me PST/GST/duty or handling. And those fees can add up.

I sat on the device for about 2 weeks as I hadn't finished my step platform. The day I was ready to try it out I downloaded a keystroke viewing software recommended on the Stepmania site plugged in the board and got out a piece of wire to see it work. It didn't, a little disheartened I put the board away but decided to read the piece of documentation that came with the board. There I discovered that it is recognized by the system as a "GAME CONTROLLER" not a keyboard as I thought.

Lesson learned make sure you know what you are ordering a GAME CONTROLLER or KEYBOARD ENCODER.

Fortunately Stepmania allows for configuration via GAME CONTROLLERS so I configured the software and the grounded wire against the A, B, C .. terminal connectors confirmed that the board was indeed working.

I have since wired it all up and tried it out and I can say the board is working quite well. I have only used 6 of the inputs but will add a second platform to utilize the B side of the board.

I will be ordering the LED-Wiz+GP™ 16 Output + 16 Input, Output and Gaming Controller for making a slot machine or to be used in a Skee Ball game.
I will use this as it offers the ability to have 16 outputs which can be used for controlling lighting.

GGG have you ever thought of offering a 32 output device ?

***(RandyT's Note: See our LED-Wiz product for 32 outputs)
